Today, children and staff of Chalfont St Peter Church of England Academy were welcomed by Reverend Charles Overton to participate in our first church service of this academic year, to give thanks at Harvest time.
Most children brought items of food to lay at the altar to be delivered later in the day to the to the collection point for the London Run, a local charity that feeds people on the streets of London every week. The children filed quietly to the front of the church where the food was received by Reverend Overton whilst the music of ‘Streets of London’ played in the background.
Mr Underwood spoke to the children about his experiences in India during last week’s visit and told them about the food and harvest there. We look forward to this being followed up in assemblies over the next week or so.
With hymns, sung fantastically by our children, who packed the pews and aisle of the church and a special harvest prayer during which everyone was able to respond, “We praise you O Lord”, we had a wonderful celebration of Harvest for this year.
Thank you to everyone who kindly contributed items to be donated in Church.
